I’ve been enjoying the HUD in my VW ID.7 overall, it’s a great feature. But I’ve noticed something strange when driving on highways. When approaching an exit with a dedicated lane, the HUD sometimes suggests changing lanes to the left instead of guiding me into the exit lane on the right. It’s pretty confusing and could easily mislead someone unfamiliar with the area.

It makes me wonder if this is some kind of oversight in the navigation software. Has anyone else in the U.S. experienced this issue? Could it be a regional programming bug, or is there something in the settings that needs adjusting? I’m curious if this is a widespread problem or just a glitch with my car.

Are you using the car's factory navigation or a phone app?

It sounds like it could be a software glitch or regional mapping issue with the navigation system. I’d suggest checking for software updates, and you might also want to reach out to VW support to see if it’s a known bug.

I’ve seen issues with lane guidance in my ID7 and other Hyundai vehicles as well. It seems like it’s tied to the open-source data used for the navigation system. Best to stay alert, or you might take a wrong turn. Not that it’s happened to me, of course!

How is it right now? Did they update the software?

That's weird about your ID.7's head-up display (HUD)! I have one too and love it, but I haven't seen that problem. It's definitely confusing that it tells you to go left when you need to exit right. Sounds like a navigation problem.

I haven't had that happen, but I'll watch for it next time I'm on the highway. You're right, it could be dangerous for someone who doesn't know the area. I'm in the US too, so I should see it if it's a US problem. Check your navigation settings for anything about lanes or exits. Maybe try restarting the navigation.

You should also ask other ID.7 owners online if they've seen this. If more people have the problem, VW might fix it. It could be a bug they don't know about. Let us know what you learn!

I've seen navigation systems do some strange things, but that's a new one. It's definitly not something you want happening on a busy highway. Have you tried doing a full system reset? Sometimes that can clear out any temporary glitches. I've learned that software resets can fix some odd problems. If that doesn't work, definitely report it to VW support.
