Hi, guys! I have this thing with my car.... the equipment list says the car has "Easy Open – sensor-controlled luggage compartment opening and electric closing."
The luggage compartment opens and closes when I use the switch inside the car and the one on the boot lid, but it doesn't work when I wave a foot under the rear bumper. I called the dealership and they said my car doesn't have this feature, which invalidates the equipment list.
Can you guys use this feature on your vehicle? Is this standard, or I should opt for an upgrade? And lastly, does my car have any issues?

My car? Oh, it definitely doesn’t have that fancy feature. No matter how much I flail my foot around like a lunatic, the boot just sits there, refusing to budge. LOL

I had it on my spec list too, but despite waggling my foot or trying every ridiculous thing I could think of, absolutely nothing. Gonna send an email about this for sure.

A while back, I read that VW had to change some of the info about their car in the UK. Turns out, the fancy features they advertised weren't actually available in the cars they were building here.

Seems like they built some of the hardware, but the software wasn't ready. So basically, it was a big mess-up on VW's part.

Hey, this is interesting. Someone in an ID.7 FB group has been pushing VW since July about the faulty easy open boot sensor. He claimed he was mis-sold the car and had bad experiences with VW’s helpline in India. Back in August, he discovered the issue affects all UK RHD cars and his dealer was no help. He’s kept the pressure on and recently shared that VW is now working on a compensation package for him. Wow!

Mine works fine, however you have to enable it in the settings. You can just ask the voice assistant to find the setting for you.

Once you have enabled it the car must be in park, and in order for it to work properly you must kick once, not more.

If you kick more than once it gets confused and refuses to open, this is probably to avoid your cat opening the boot for you. The kick must be a in and out motion then there is a 1-2 second delay before it starts opening.

Also I don't know if this is a must but I always kick in under the right side of the car. Idk if there is a sensor on both sides.

And obviously either the person with the keyfob has to kick or the car must be unlocked.

The "Easy Open" boot was one of the features I really wanted when I bought the car. My VW dealer hasn’t been able to help with this, so I’ll try setting it up using the voice assistant. Appreciate the tip

Hey! That feature is typically part of the "Hands-Free" or "Foot-Activated" opening, but not all models come with it, even if it's listed. It sounds like your car might not have the sensor for it, despite what's on the list. I’d double-check your car’s specific configuration, and if it’s not included, it could require an upgrade. It doesn’t seem like there's an issue, just a feature that may not be equipped in your model

Hey everyone, quick update! I went back and double-checked all the settings, even tried the voice assistant trick, but still no luck.
The dealership is sticking to their claim that my car doesn’t have the feature, even though it was listed in the equipment sheet.
They are now looking into it after I pushed back, but I am not holding my breath.
Seems like I am not the only one dealing with this.
